Cate was born in Leicestershire and now lives in rural Northamptonshire. She is a self-taught artist specialising in soft pastels and graphite pencils.
Wildlife and animals are her passion, not just painting them, but supporting their care through supporting The Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital. Cate does this by publishing a calendar each year in conjunction with LWH. She also, donates gift cards and pet portraits for their fundraising efforts.
Cate is a member of The Association of Animal Artists, exhibiting in Weston Park, Rose Patterson Gallery and Richmond North Yorkshire, The Station Gallery. She is also a member of Northants and Rutland Open Studios, exhibiting at Lamport Hall, Boughton House, Stanwick Lakes and many other locations. Cate’s artworks can also be found in Milton Keynes Museum, Janet Bassett Gallery Rothwell and many other exhibitions throughout the year, details of which can be found on her website.
After a career in interior design, Cate continued to be interested in art, often turning to pyrography or graphite pencil for her sketches. Developing her art skills, she experimented with different media and discovered painting in soft pastles to be totally addictive. She now specializes in Soft Pastel/Pastel Pencils, Graphite and Acrylic Painting. After realising that art helped her mental well-being, she felt that art had to be her only focus, so made life changes to make this happen. Cate now has a fabulous studio at home, where she can dedicate herself fully to her craft. Art is her happy place and makes her totally fulfilled.
