Gohar was born in Persia (now Iran) and spent her childhood years in France and Pakistan, soaking up the diverse visual language of those cultures.
She settled in England in 1967 and trained as a ceramicist. In 1985, Gohar opened Ziggurat, the luxury yarn store in Kensington. Ten years later, Gohar’s love of beautiful yarns, textiles and colour led her to establish the English Weather clothing label, known for its unusual cashmere designs.
Recently, Gohar has moved more towards painting, gaining inspiration from the work of Matisse, Klee and Tapies. A trip to Cornwall introduced her to fellow colourists, William Scott and Roger Hilton.
