“I am passionate about art and enjoy the act of creation. We are fortunate to live in a country that is very diverse with beautiful countryside and fabulous views. Art is a very personal form of communication and it is as important to convey something about the subject to the viewer. My hope is for the viewer to be able to sense the passion, joy and vitality of my work.
My work features elements of the landscape: trees, rocks, often done in a thick impasto to create texture and movement. The emphasis is on colour, light and composition using layers of paint and glazing. I work mainly in oils as this enables me to work on the painting over a period of time. There is great enjoyment in the creative process often combined with a struggle to express how I feel about the subject which results in a rich tapestry of colour and texture.
