Marion Royle has a BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art.
Since moving from Berkshire to Lymington several years ago, Marion has been painting full time and works from a studio in her garden.
Diverse local sources of inspiration include boats seen in the dry dock and on the Solent and coastal birds.
Marion is passionate about painting in oils but also experiments with mixed media, such as cold wax, acrylics and inks.
Composition and abstraction are challenges Marion relishes and her paintings are generally constructed from more than one viewpoint. Marion’s photographs form a reference bank which is used to inform series of paintings relating to challenges such as, the ever-changing light effects on aspects of the coastline and coastal wildlife.
Marion’s work can be accessed first-hand through Hampshire Open Studios, studio visits by appointment, and in the St Barbe Museum and Art Gallery.
