Sally studied 3D Ceramic Design at Falmouth School of Art, graduating in 1989. After couple of years producing her own range of slip cast handpainted mugs, ceramics was put aside to concentrate on raising a family and working in the family business. A chance to play with clay occurred in 2013 and the passion for pottery rekindled. Sally is inspired by the forces of nature , the changing seasons and celebrating the huge variety of flora and fauna from the New Forest and South Coast. Sally’s work is made using a combination of techniques, throwing, hand building and sculpture in stoneware clay.
Sally has always been inspired by her surroundings and she is currently exploring our natural environment. She creates both functional and sculptural work to celebrate all these wonderful animals, plants and landscapes that play such a crucial part in the cycle of the seasons and the eco system of our wonderful New Forest and South Coast. The birds, beetles, bees, insects, lizards and plants, whether in the garden, forest or in rock pools, along the shoreline on the coast have always been fascinating and Sally loves the challenge of recreating them in ceramics.
The name Just SO Studio is simply her initials and the fact that its just her in the studio with her ideas and thoughts.
