Becky Haywood

Becky Haywood is an artist deeply inspired by the wild beauty of nature, drawing from the rich landscapes and native flora and fauna of rural Shropshire, where she lives with her husband and their much‑loved cat. Surrounded by ever‑changing countryside, her creative practice is infused with a genuine appreciation for the natural world.

A self‑described “glass geek,” Becky has worked with glass since completing her degree in 2009. Her passion lies in flameworking — guiding molten glass, glowing and fluid, into form with a mixture of precision, intuition and gentle persuasion. She also creates kiln‑formed glass pieces, often incorporating copper to achieve striking, layered effects.

Her love of making extends well beyond glass. A six‑week printmaking course at her local college sparked an enduring fascination with print, opening up an entirely new creative pathway. Since then, Becky has embraced printmaking with the same curiosity and enthusiasm, always eager to explore new techniques and ideas.

Becky’s work is characterised by an inquisitive mind and a hands‑on, exploratory approach. Her pieces often surprise even her — playful, unexpected creations that seem to appear from nowhere. For Becky, this sense of discovery is at the heart of her practice: the joy of exploring, experimenting and making.
