Linda Nevill was born in Sussex and has lived and taught in Stockholm, Brussels, Edinburgh and Wolverhampton. After many years teaching art to college students, she has focused entirely on her own artistic practice since 2013. An elected member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, she exhibits regularly across the West Midlands, Shropshire, London and beyond, creating her work from her Wolverhampton studio.
Linda studied Fine Art at the University of Wolverhampton (BA Hons) and History of Art at the University of Edinburgh (MA Hons). Her work is held in several significant collections, including the Victoria & Albert Museum’s permanent collection, New Grounds in Albuquerque, and the Printmakers Council collection.
Her latest body of work includes a series of oil and cold wax paintings, alongside intricate pieces created using charcoal dust, cold wax and oil paint. She will also be presenting a selection of works on Arches huile paper, carefully mounted and wrapped for the browser.
Linda’s artistic process is rooted in a profound connection to the landscape. A passionate outdoor painter, she delights in sketching and painting in all weather conditions, fully immersing herself in the environment. Her plein air studies — created directly from nature — form the foundation of her practice, capturing the atmosphere, energy and emotional resonance of the landscape.
For Linda, working outdoors is a form of dialogue with the land. She has a rare ability to translate the sensations and emotions of the natural world into her artwork, offering viewers a glimpse into her personal experience of place. Back in the studio, she transforms these outdoor studies into atmospheric paintings, layering oil and cold wax to build depth, texture and a tactile richness. Each piece carries the living spirit of the landscapes she observes — a memory of the outdoors held within the work itself.
